A Wonderful Milestone: Apostate Receives a Fantastic Review from IndieReader!

Waiting for the first professional review of your debut book is one of the most nerve-wracking parts of being an author. You pour your heart into a story, send it out into the world, and hope that it connects with people. That’s why I was so incredibly grateful and moved to receive the official review for Apostate: The First Heresy from the respected team at IndieReader.

I’m thrilled to share their final verdict:

“C.J. Loveman’s APOSTATE: The First Heresy provides a glimpse of the change that can be sparked when someone finds the courage to live authentically and share the message with a world hungry to break free from oppression. Its thematic weight is undeniable.”

What means the most to me is that the reviewer, Suneé Jones, understood the very soul of the story. She recognized its “thematic depth” and its connection to the anxieties of our current moment, even comparing its world to George Orwell’s 1984.

My goal with Apostate was never to attack faith, but to explore what happens when it becomes entangled with a thirst for political power. This review validates that the story is landing as intended—as a thought-provoking, and hopefully inspiring, start to a larger conversation.

Thank you so much to Suneé Jones and the entire team at IndieReader for their thoughtful analysis. And most of all, thank you to all of you who have taken a chance on this story. Your support means the world to me.

If you’d like to read the full review, you can find it on the IndieReader website here.

And if you haven’t had a chance to step into Calvin’s world yet, I’d be honored if you’d check it out.
