Welcome to The Desk!

I’ve wanted to create a space like this for a while—a place to pull back the curtain on my writing, explore the ideas that won’t let me go, and connect with readers who, like me, are fascinated by the intersection of history, faith, identity, and rebellion.

This is where we’ll go beyond the pages of my stories. We’ll dive deeper into the world of the Apostate series, explore the historical rabbit holes I fall into during my research, and grapple with the big questions my characters face. What does it mean to be an outcast? How do you keep faith when the church itself has cast you out? And where do we find hope when the world feels dark?

Many of you who have read my “About” page know that these themes are deeply personal to me. My writing is forged from my own journey through a world of rigid belief and the struggle to reconcile my identity with the faith I held dear. This desk has often been my refuge—a place to wrestle with those very questions.

My primary research tool for navigating the mysteries of storytelling.

But a desk shouldn’t just be a place for solitary work. I hope it becomes more like a table where we can have a conversation. I don’t have all the answers, but I have a lot of questions, and I’d love to hear your thoughts, too.

To get us started, what theme or time period would you like me to explore here?

So, pull up a chair. I’m so glad you’re here.

All the best,

C.J. Loveman
