Check Out The Protocol Heresy Book Trailer!

What Inspired Me to Make My Own Book Trailer for Protocol Heresy
I’ve learned that when you publish a book, you get a flood of cold emails offering all manner of services. I flag nearly all of them as spam, but some can be quite convincing. I discovered a couple just last week that really spelled out in detail the themes of my novelette. They were offering to create a book trailer and gave very relevant comparisons, carrying on quite a detailed conversation. They even provided a detailed proposal specific to Protocol Heresy: The Limp in the Code.
But by late last week, it was clear this was a sophisticated operation, likely employing AI to convincingly mirror my book’s core themes in their pitches. The irony wasn’t lost on me: being subjected to a subtle, digital system of deception just as I’m about to launch a novelette about systemic betrayal.
This was an unfortunate experience, and it reinforced the central question of my work: What is the true moral code of a machine that adapts to survive? I wondered how many authors, especially indie and self-published authors, have been swindled out of their hard-earned money simply for wanting to promote their work.
On the upside, it inspired me to use the tools I already have in my portfolio to create my own book trailer for Protocol Heresy: The Limp in the Code! It is shorter than I would’ve preferred, but I think it is good for a first attempt and does the job of capturing the atmosphere. What do you think?
